Why Reheat SBM for Food Jars?

Preheat, Stretch, Blow — Preform Flexibility at Production Scale

The HGA.ES food jars series uses a two-step reheat stretch blow molding process. Preforms are produced separately — either in-house or purchased from a specialist preform supplier — then loaded into the machine, reheated by infrared lamps to forming temperature, and immediately stretched and blown into the finished container.

Separating preform production from blow molding gives food jar manufacturers the flexibility to source preforms from multiple suppliers, to adjust preform specifications without replacing blow machine tooling, and to run the blow machine independently of any injection molding schedule — a meaningful operational advantage for food packaging operations with variable volumes and multiple container formats.

📦

Preform Supply Flexibility

Preforms can be sourced externally from specialist producers or made in-house. Format changes require only new blow mold tooling and matching preforms — the machine itself remains unchanged between jar designs.

🎯

Precise Neck Thread Accuracy

Neck threads are formed during preform injection — to the tight tolerances that tamper-evident and child-resistant food closure systems require — before the preform reaches the blow machine.

Independent Production Scheduling

The blow machine runs on its own schedule. Preform inventory buffers between production stages, allowing each step to run at its own optimal rate. Higher-station configurations further optimise cycle time for volume production.

Product Overview — HGA.ES-1C130

HGA.ES-1C130 single-cavity food jar ISBM machine side view

The HGA.ES-1C130 is the entry configuration in the HGA Food Jars & Cans series — a single-cavity reheat stretch blow molding machine at 130 mm pitch for wide-mouth PET food jars up to 110 mm body, 98 mm neck, and 1,000 ml at 1,000 bph. It is the lowest infrastructure and tooling investment point in the series, suited to production pilots, specialty jar formats, multi-format single-machine operations, and mid-volume food jar lines.

At 98 mm maximum neck diameter, this machine covers genuine wide-mouth food jar formats — where the opening is wide enough for hand access, ladle insertion, or whole-piece content extraction. This neck range serves honey jars, condiment and spice containers, pickle jars, edible oil bottles, dried fruit canisters, and sauce paste jars across standard retail and food service pack sizes from 100 ml to 1,000 ml.

The compact 2,525 x 1,525 x 1,995 mm footprint and 2,500 kg weight are the smallest in the series — suitable for factory spaces that cannot accommodate the larger 2-cavity or 4-cavity configurations. Single-cavity tooling (injection mold + blow mold + neck insert set) costs roughly half that of 2-cavity tooling, making format trials and specialty production commercially viable at lower annual volumes.

CE certification, ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing, and oil-free compressor requirement ensure all production meets food-contact packaging quality standards.

Performance Characteristics

⚙️ 98 mm Neck — Full Wide-Mouth Coverage

At 98 mm neck on a 110 mm body, the opening-to-body ratio is nearly 90% — serving genuine wide-mouth jar formats where hand access, ladle insertion, and whole-piece content extraction are functional requirements. This neck range covers the full standard retail wide-mouth food jar category without exception.

🍳 Food-Safe PET — Glass Clarity, Less Weight

Food-grade PET is approved for food contact in all major regulatory frameworks (FDA, EFSA, GB standards). The reheat stretch blow molding process produces PET jars at maximum achievable optical clarity — matching glass presentation on shelf while delivering shatter resistance and significantly lower shipping weight.

📈 1,000 bph — Right-Sized Entry Point

1,000 bph serves annual volumes of 5–8 million units at sustained operation. It is also the correct scale for format pilots before 2-cavity tooling commitment, for specialty and seasonal jar production, and for multi-format single-machine operations with tooling changeover between different jar profiles.

🏭 Smallest Footprint in the Series

At 2,525 x 1,525 x 1,995 mm and 2,500 kg, the 1C130 fits factory spaces that cannot accommodate larger configurations. No crane overhead clearance required. Single-cavity ISBM tooling costs roughly half of 2-cavity tooling — the lowest capital entry into in-house food jar production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is reheat stretch blow molding and why does it matter for food jars?

The HGA.ES food jar series uses a two-step reheat stretch blow molding process: pre-made PET preforms are fed into the machine, reheated by infrared lamps to forming temperature, then immediately stretched and blown into the finished container. Preforms can be sourced from specialist suppliers or produced in-house, giving full flexibility in specification, supply chain, and format changeover. For food jars, reheat stretch blow molding delivers glass-competitive clarity and tighter neck-thread tolerances critical for tamper-evident and child-resistant closures.

Is PET food-safe for condiments, vinegar-brine products, and edible oils?

Yes. Food-grade PET is approved for food contact under FDA, EFSA, and GB standards. PET is chemically stable against the acids, oils, and salt concentrations in condiment, pickle, honey, edible oil, and sauce products at standard storage temperatures. PET is not recommended for hot-fill above 60°C — confirm with Ever-Power if your product requires hot-fill capability, as a heat-set process may be required.

When should I choose the 1C130 over the 2C130?

Choose the 1C130 when your annual production target is at or below approximately 6–7 million units per year, when you are trialling a new jar format before committing to 2-cavity tooling, when your facility cannot accommodate the larger 2C130 footprint, or when you produce multiple formats on the same machine with tooling changeover. The 2C130 at 1,800 bph costs roughly 60–70% more in machine and tooling but delivers 80% more output.

Can the machine run multiple jar formats with tooling changeover?

Yes — single-cavity ISBM tooling (injection mold, blow mold, neck insert set) is designed for changeover. Formats sharing the same neck finish are the fastest changeovers. Confirm changeover compatibility for your specific format combination with Ever-Power before ordering.

What floor load and space does the machine require?

2,500 kg on a 2,525 x 1,525 mm footprint — approximately 650 kg/m² distributed load. Standard factory floors rated at 500 kg/m² or above can typically accommodate this without reinforcement. The 1C130 is the lightest machine in the series — floor load is rarely a constraint for this model. Confirm with a structural engineer before installation.
